Animation Production Manager

Pixel Zoo are looking to recruit animation production managers to join a management team overseeing a large volume of animated content.

This position offers a chance to join the Pixel Zoo menagerie who have together created a high quality selection of fun, stylised kids entertainment and advertising. Past work includes web series for major brands such as Num Noms, Awesome Little Green Men and Shopkins, as well as plenty of TVCs for many others in between.

Essential skills:
– Experience as a producer / production manager for series, TVCs or animated content

Favourable skills:
– Experience as a Maya animator or generalist

The ideal applicant would be experienced in leading a team of creative artists and have enough experience with animation production to understand what each stage of production requires. This role would also be responsible for taking the completed animatic then building and maintaining the working edit through to delivery.

We require someone who is able to work in-house in our North Lakes, Queensland studio, located a short drive north of Brisbane.

Nuke Compositor

We are currently on the lookout for a Nuke Compositor to join the team!

Essential skills:

  • Experience in a production pipeline
  • Experience as a Compositor using Nuke
  • Experience in Adobe After Effects and Premiere

Bonus points for:

  • Experience working on animation series production.
  • Experience with Deadline render farm software.
  • Experience with additional Maya FX plugins such as Yeti.
  • Good troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently to identify and resolve issues with rendering shots.
  • Experience with RedGiant fx plugins and other industry standard plugins in Adobe AfterEffects.

We love to have the team together at our Northlakes office but that is not a necessity! We also have remote options for this position.

We will be offering both long term and short term contracts.

Production Coordinator

Reporting directly to Production Managers, the Production Coordinator will join a contemporary and forward-thinking team at the front-line of the business, communicating and coordinating clients’ needs. Customer service and communication, both internally and externally is of the highest importance. 

 

This role is perfectly suited to someone motivated and meticulous, who is keen to further their skills in production administration and work in a fast paced studio environment. The Production Coordinator will work closely with the production team to assist the planning, management and productions of new and ongoing projects. You will be required to maintain studio and project documents, making sure they stay up to date with the latest information as well as general admin duties. Experience with Microsoft Office including Excel an advantage. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tracking assets and shots  
  • Updating and maintaining information for crew and management on project trackers.
  • Assist in communicating task assignments, targets, and artist priorities per the overall project delivery schedules set.
  • Check-in regularly with artists regarding workload, targets, and deliveries
  • Build and maintain the day-to-day artist-based schedule, communicating progress, schedule changes, and variances as required.
  • Organise dailies, rounds and project meetings, taking accurate minutes and distributing to relevant crew.
  • Organise and setup media for review sessions.
  • Liaise with all departments to facilitate the efficient communication and transfer of elements between departments
  • Arranging conference calls, meetings, taking and following up on minutes.
  • Ensure effective communication and continual team updates.
  • Coordinate and monitor multiple tasks effectively.
  • Work closely with Production Managers

 

This position is key to the smooth running of the studio and we can guarantee every day will be different. We require someone who is able to work in-house in our North Lakes studio.

Lead Lighting & Comp Artist

Essential skills:

  • Ability to lead a team, with good leadership skills and to delegate and prioritise work accordingly
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with other department leads 
  • 5+ Years experience in a production pipeline 
  • Extensive experience lighting and rendering shots within Maya using render engines such as Redshift, Arnold or VRay (Redshift preferred)
  • Experience in Adobe After Effects and Premiere
  • Experience working on animation series production.

Favourable Skills:

  • Several titles as a Lead Animator 
  • Technical understanding of Maya

3D Layout Artist (Junior/Mid)

Pixel Zoo are seeking candidates for the role of Animation Layout Artist, with an “eye” for picture composition. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Setting up animation scenes
2. Translating 2D animatics into 3D sequences
3. Set dressing (checking with consistency and continuity)
4. Camera and lensing work
5. Picture composition
6. Simple 3D modelling and character posing
7. Referencing required assets
8. Collaborating with the Director and Asset lead to resolve any issues

  • Ability to receive and apply feedback, sharing knowledge as needed
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Talented and self- motivated with a willingness to learn
  • Keen eye for detail

Bonus points for:

  • Demonstrated ability as a character animator in Maya
  • Any other additional 3D generalist skills
  • Experience working in a studio environment, particularly for series or film work

  • Demonstrated ability as a character animator in Maya
  • Experience is preferred (but if your reel can demonstrate that you know what you’re doing, not essential)
  • Ability to positively receive and implement constructive feedback to improve your skills and work

Favourable skills:

  • Experience working in layout/previs
  • Any additional experience as a Maya generalist or rigger.
